How To Download Youtube Videos On Iphone Using Shortcuts

Welcome to Just Another YouTube Downloader (JAYD)!

This shortcut is powered by JavaScript and requires the Scriptable App.

Instructions for use:

Find your favorite YouTube video (or playlist)
Tap the share button
Copy link and run shortcut or share direct to JAYD shortcut
JAYD will process the link and grab the video
Choose between Audio or Video for your download
Choose your download location
- Audio downloads to Shortcuts/JAYD
- Video downloads can go to:
  - Camera Roll/Photos
  - Shortcuts/JAYD
After the saving is complete, you are prompted with the videos for immediate viewing

Every time I try to use this I get an error saying "It seems that it's not a Youtube link!" I have copied the video links from the app and the website url. This is insanely frustrating. iOS 13.1.3

This shortcut works without issue for a number of other users. This popped up a few times for some other users but went away and never came back. Have you used the scriptable app after downloading it? Edit: I just had this issue happen to me as well. Running the shortcut again immediately after seems to succeed

No sorry, the actual implementation it's client side so it needs to run JavaScript locally and this is the only viable way

I'm getting "Error: Failed evaluating JavaScript with error on line 15. TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating 'cmt[0].split('title')[2].split')" I tried running it again (more than 5 times) but it kept giving me this same error each time.

That link works for me, I just copy the link and run the shortcut, if you have an iOS beta version the shortcut will not work, if you have the latest official release of iOS please te download JAYD and try again

I recommend that you "rebuild" the input URL, so to speak, when it's run. I tried with an m.youtube.com URL (with a "feature" parameter) as the input and the Scriptable part failed. When I reformatted the URL as https://youtube.com/watch?v=<video ID>, it worked perfectly.

Shortcut always returns "No URL Specified". I have tried: Running the shortcut / copying the URL and running the shortcut from the shortcut app from: The YouTube app. The mobile browser page. The desktop browser page. Running the shortcut from YouTube's share menu and from Safari's share menu. Updating previous shortcut version / reinstalling. Trying both to save to camera roll or the files app. Installing Scriptable. Trying both audio and video. It just won't run?

Thank you for this application. Is there any possibility of adding the capability for the video to be placed in channel sub-folders inside iCloud/Jayd? I.E. a video from say iJustine would automatically go into the /iCloud/jayd/iJustine folder.

This shortcut has been running into an error recently: "Unexpected Error, please try again, if the error persist report it at https://..." This error happens after choosing the path to save the audio file/video file. (occurs when saving audio as well as video to camera roll or JAYD folder). This doesn't occur all the time, but when it does, it doesn't go away until you force quit the YouTube App. Re-downloading the shortcut does not solve the issue.

Installed it today - with all requirements, but I get a "No URL specified" also. Quite strange, it workes with the first video -> m4a conversion. With the second video I got the above error, but then got it working by pressing "play"-icon in the workflow app. Now with the third it won't go at all - seems to me like apple doesn't like it..

I just wanted let you know that your shortcut works fine for me when using an url from the clipboard. But when I try to run it from the share sheet, I get the following conversion error: Encode media failed because Shortcuts couldn't convert from Rich text to Media. Update: Uninstalling then reinstalling has an error where JAYD cannot be verified as a shortcut upon installation. Also many other shortcuts are affected by this too so maybe it's a server error or the shortcuts themselves are out of date. -Java
